Botox treatment is a form of esthetic medicine used cosmetically for the treatment of wrinkles and fine lines, excessive sweating, migraines, muscular disorders, and some bladder and bowel disorders. Botox contains neurotoxin derived from clostridium botulinum, an organism found in the natural environment, including soil, lakes, and forests. It is a proven successful and valuable therapeutic purified protein that is injected, in extremely small amount, with a tiny needle into different areas of the face to produce localized muscle relaxation. The treatment works by blocking a chemical release between nerves and their related muscles, reducing abnormal muscle contraction and allowing the muscles to become less stiff. This makes lines in the face diminish resulting in smoother, younger looking skin.

Botox treatment will NOT make you look “frozen” or “over done”. We have experienced injectors who are meticulous in the amount of product that is injected.

Many patients are often concerned about side effects. Again, with an experienced injector, Botox is relatively safe and side effects are generally very mild and short term, which may include: pain, swelling or bruising at the injection site. Botox treatment is generally not recommended when you’re pregnant or breast-feeding. Although very unlikely, the risk for more serious side effects will be discussed during your consult.

It may take 2-4 days after a treatment for most people to see results. In very rare circumstances, it may take about 7-14 days to see full effect. Results typically last 3-6 months, but this varies between individuals.

Be sure of a complimentary follow up visit after the initial Botox injection to ensure you are happy with the effects of the treatment. Any additional corrections can be done during this visit.

Aging causes our bodies to naturally lose fat or stop producing collagen. The skin starts to lose volume and hence starts to droop, sag and wrinkle. Dermal fillers are the best and quickest way to restore lost volume to the face and hands. Beyond anti-aging, fillers are also an effective way to enhance certain aspects of your facial shape – lips, chin, cheeks, nose – to better align with your desired facial aesthetic.

Dermal fillers are injectable gels made of Hyaluronic Acid (HA), a natural occurring substance found in the human body in areas such as skin, joints and eyes. The HA molecules found in fillers available in Canada are of non-animal origin, (like Juvederm and Teosyal), and are almost identical to the HA that humans produce naturally. Overtime, the filler is slowly metabolized and excreted from the body. HA has been shown to stimulate increased collagen production, making this treatment valuable to a long-term rejuvenation strategy.

Results are immediate and last typically between 6-12 months, although this can vary between individuals and the area injected.

Side effects are generally mild and short term such as bruising and swelling at the injection site. Although very rare, there is a risk for more serious side effects. These will be discussed with you during your consult.
